Tonna Cooney started Tangerine the way most true collectors do: by accident, then completely on purpose. She went to her first antique show three weeks before the birth of her first child, and it became a ritual from there, four kids in tow, years before any of it was a business.

What began as a hobby turned serious with an eighth storage unit and a husband's very reasonable question about what she planned to do with it all. She closed her Etsy shop, built a website, and ran her first show as Tangerine in September 2025.

She personally sources every piece by instinct rather than formula. Designers and collectors alike have learned to trust her eye. Tonna’s style is recognizable. Preppy and punk, classic and chipped, a little Sid, a little Nancy. 

 

This is exactly the juxtaposition that Tangerine was built around.
